STRAWBERRY PICK-YOUR-OWN AND FERME MARINEAU. A PERFECT DAY NEAR THE CITY.
At Ferme Marineau, pick-your-own strawberries are very popular, and we are always happy to see familiar faces or welcome new visitors each summer. Since 1990, from mid-June to mid-July, thousands of enthusiasts have walked through our fields on Dagenais Boulevard in Laval to pick our delicious strawberries. We select the best varieties, based on our soil type and taste preferences, to obtain beautiful, bright red fruits, rich in flavor and texture.
Since our site is located in an urban area, it is easy and quick to access by car or via public transport. To enhance your visit, you will find on site a developed park including a petting zoo with goats, an artisanal creamery, several picnic areas, and a fruit and vegetable stand where we also offer products cooked from our harvests. If you don't feel like picking your own strawberries, you also have the option of buying fresh, daily picked strawberries.

2) Where are the pick-your-own strawberry fields located and how do I get there?
To access the strawberry fields, we invite you to enjoy nature for a walk on a 800m long developed trail. There is shade and tables along the trail if you wish to take breaks. As it is a gravel and dirt path, the use of strollers or carts with large wheels is recommended; we also advise you to wear good shoes or rain boots if your visit takes place during or after a gloomy day. Carts or strollers are not allowed in the strawberry rows; a baby carrier might be useful if you have very young children. If you do not have a cart, we have some available for you; however, quantities are limited.
3) How to pick strawberries efficiently?
At the pick-your-own site, a manager will assign you a specific area to pick from. It is important to respect these instructions, as we choose the best rows each day according to the ripening of the fruit. To protect themselves from the heat, strawberries hide under the foliage, so you have to lift the leaves to access the great delight.
4) Is strawberry picking suitable for young children?
Children love picking strawberries. As a parent, you are the best person to judge if your child is able to participate. Out of respect for those around you and the well-being of our fields, no one is allowed to run through the strawberry rows. If you are coming with a very young child, don’t forget to bring a baby carrier.
5) Can we bring a picnic?
You can picnic in various places on the site, both in our landscaped park and in the fields. And afterward, why not treat yourself to a delicious frozen treat, made with our harvest? Our artisan ice cream shop is a true oasis during the warmer months. If you haven't planned a meal, you'll find fresh fruits and vegetables as well as bakery products such as cold pizzas, cookies, breads, and pies at the kiosk.
6) Can we bring our dog?
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on our site.
HOW TO EAT AND STORE YOUR STRAWBERRIES?
Once picked, strawberries should be quickly refrigerated as they don't like heat. You can keep them fresh for 2-3 days in the refrigerator. It is recommended to rinse them before hulling them to prevent them from soaking up water and losing flavor.
For freezing, rinse, hull, spread the strawberries on a baking sheet, and freeze. Once thoroughly frozen, remove them from the sheet and place them in a container or freezer bag; they will easily keep until the next season if you manage not to eat them all.
